MEDITATE

Life is a choice and the choice we make defines who we are, what we are and who we will be ever after. Remember without a challenge there is no overcoming, without a trial there is no glory, take note there is no harm in try anything in life. Permit me to give you these words of wisdom. It will be a great blessing to you. Please read and meditate on them:

1. ON EARNING:
Never depend on single income. Make investment to create a second chance.

2. ON SPENDING:
If you buy things you do not need, soon you will have to sell things you need.

3. ON SAVINGS:
Do not save what is left after spending, but spend what is left after saving.

4. ON TAKING RISK:
Never test the depth of a river with both feet.

5. ON INVESTMENT:
Do not put all eggs in one basket.

6. ON EXPECTATIONS:
Honesty is a very expensive gift. Do not expect it from cheap people.

7. IF YOU are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present. Past is a waste paper. Present is a newspaper and future is a question paper.

8. WHEN bad things happen in your life you have three choices. You can either let it define you, let it destroy you or you can let it strengthen you.

9. EMPTY pockets teach you a million things in life but full pockets spoil you in a million ways.

10. OUR EYES are in the front because it is more important to look ahead than to look back.

11. WE USED a pencil when we were small but now we use pens... do you know why? Because mistakes in childhood can be erased but not now.

So read and write carefully otherwise life will be a tissue paper.

MY TEAMMATE (HUSBAND AND WIFE)

Family Life Class Teaching

The weaknesses of your husband or wife are not something you should despise.
Every single human being, no matter his or her status, has some areas that they need to improve upon.
See yourself as there to help them become better. Don't beat them down for their shortcomings.  And don't make them feel less than anybody else.
The man or woman you are looking at who seems perfect, also have their flaws. Their spouses have learnt to either endure those flaws or help them become better.
Make the choice to be a helper! This is not just for the wife or the husband. Marriage is for both of you where you both should be fulfilled so each one has their part to play in enhancing the other and building the marriage.
In fact, I believe that if your spouse becomes worse and not better after marriage, you should ask yourself some hard questions.
You should not be ok with that and blame them! Good things in you should rub off on them or vice versa. Most people leave their spouses to themselves but that should not be so; you are one and the same in God's eyes and you should do everything you can to ensure your marriage and family progresses instead of pointing fingers.
Yes, naturally you may feel frustrated if your spouse may behave contrary; in those moments go to God - He is the very present help in times of our need. Keep speaking life until it manifests physically in your home.
Demonstrate love without reservation. The bible says love covers a multitude of sin - I like to say that true love covers all weaknesses or flaws.
Make up for your spouses weaknesses with your strengths. My husband uses his strengths to cover my weaknesses and I do the same for him; that way we build a strong team where both of us are fulfilled.
Just like your child can never become better if you keep telling them how dumb and stupid they are, your spouse can never become better if you pick on them.
Can any team become stronger when the team mates insult each other and tear each other down? Can they ever have victory in whatever sports or industry they are in? NEVER! They rally around each other and do everything they can to become stronger - if that trophy must be in their possession.
My point here is that majoring on your spouses weaknesses will never bring out the best in them and will only cause your family life to deteriorate!
God will help your understanding in Jesus name

DEATH OF THE APOSTLES . (Fr. John Paul Gill)

1. Matthew: Suffered martyrdom in Ethiopia, Killed by a sword wound.

2. Mark: Died in Alexandria, Egypt, after being dragged by Horses through the streets until he was dead.

3. Luke: Was hanged in Greece as a result of his tremendous Preaching to the lost.

4. John: Faced martyrdom when he was boiled in huge Basin of boiling oil during a wave of persecution In Rome. However, he was miraculously delivered from death.
John was then sentenced to the mines on the prison Island of Patmos. He wrote his prophetic Book of Revelation on Patmos. The apostle John was later freed and returned to serve As Bishop of Edessa in modern Turkey. He died as an old man, the only apostle to die peacefully

5. Peter: He was crucified upside down on an x-shaped cross. According to church tradition it was because he told his tormentors that he felt unworthy to die In the same way that Jesus Christ had died.

6. James: The leader of the church in Jerusalem was thrown over a hundred feet down from the southeast pinnacle of the Temple when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. When they discovered that he survived the fall, his enemies beat James to death with a fuller's club. * This was the same pinnacle where Satan had taken Jesus during the Temptation.

7. James the Son of Zebedee was a fisherman by trade when Jesus Called him to a lifetime of ministry. As a strong leader of the church, James was ultimately beheaded at Jerusalem. The Roman officer who guarded James watched amazed as James defended his faith at his trial. Later, the officer Walked beside James to the place of execution. Overcome by conviction, he declared his new faith to the judge and Knelt beside James to accept beheading as a Christian.

8. Bartholomew: Also known as Nathaniel was a missionary to Asia. He witnessed for our Lord in present day Turkey. Bartholomew was martyred for his preaching in Armenia where he was flayed to death by a whip.

9. Andrew: Was crucified on an x-shaped cross in Patras, Greece. After being whipped severely by seven soldiers they tied his body to the cross with cords to prolong his agony. His followers reported that, when he was led toward the cross, Andrew saluted it in these words: 'I have long desired and expected this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Christ hanging on it.' He continued to preach to his tormentors for two days until he expired.

10. Thomas: Was stabbed with a spear in India during one of his missionary trips to establish the church in the Sub-continent.

11. Jude: Was killed with arrows when he refused to deny his faith in Christ.

12. Matthias: The apostle chosen to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot was stoned and then beheaded.

13. Paul: Was tortured and then beheaded by the evil Emperor Nero at Rome in A.D. 67. Paul endured a lengthy imprisonment, which allowed him to write his many epistles to the churches he had formed throughout the Roman Empire. These letters, which taught many of the foundational Doctrines of Christianity, form a large portion of the New Testament. Perhaps this is a reminder to us that our sufferings here are indeed minor compared to the intense persecution and cold cruelty faced by the apostles and disciples during their times For the sake of the Faith. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: But he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Pass on to encourage other Christians.

CAUSES OF ABDOMINAL FAT

1. Genetics
2. Hormonal Changes
3. Stress and Hypertension
4. Alcohol
5. Late Night Eating
6. Sedentary Lifestyle
7. Disease
8. Poor Posture

However, to curtail this bogus bulgy tummy we should be committed to these practices.

1. Enhancement of Liver function:
The liver as we all know is a vital organ of the digestive system which aid in detoxification, protein synthesis, and production of bio-chemicals necessary for
digestion. It also produces bile, an alkaline compound which aids in digestion via the emulsification of lipids. Once the bile lacks the regulatory materials to
function, an impending tummy protrusion ensues.

2. Eat Right:
Reducing abdominal fat is 80% about eating the right food. In other for the liver to function properly you need to maintain a healthy and balanced diet, with adequate
macro and micro nutrients. Most importantly, skip takeaways and fast foods. Eat food prepared at home. Don’t have time? Go for raw fruits or veggies, or steam cooked
veggies instead.

3. Drink Water:
Many get confused between being thirsty, tired or hungry, and end up nibbling sugary or fatty food. Always carry a water bottle. And make sure you keep sipping water
throughout the day. One need to drink 6 – 8 glasses of water, though this depends on your weight and lifestyle. Calculate accordingly and make sure you consume enough
water.

4. Short Bursts:
According to recent studies, instead of working out for hours or running a few miles, doing short bursts of active exercises is very helpful in reducing stubborn fat.
For example, if you are walking on a treadmill, randomly increase the speed for a few seconds and get back to walking.

5. Avoid Sugar:
Sugar is one thing you should greatly reduce, if not omit from your daily platter. There are many sources of hidden sugar, so it’s a good idea to reduce sugar. Use
alternatives like honey, palm sugar and licorice extract.

6. Reduce Sodium intake:
Of course, you need to add salt to your food. Besides sodium salt, you have potassium, lemon and sea salts you can consider. Also, adding spices like pepper, a few herbs also helps reduce salt requirement.

7. Vitamin C:
Vitamin C is important for the secretion of carnitine, a compound that helps body convert fat into energy. Besides, it also helps block cortisol, a hormone that’s
secreted by the body when under stress. Spike in cortisol levels is the main reason for abdominal fat.

8. Fat burning foods:
There are many natural ways to reduce fat. . Garlic, onion, ginger, cayenne pepper, cabbage, tomato, spices like cinnamon and mustard are some of the fat reducing
foods. Consuming a few cloves of raw garlic and a 1-inch piece of ginger every morning is good for fat metabolism.
Having a glass of warm water with lemon juice and honey in the morning, is a popular option for weight loss. Similarly, there are many other ways to induct fat burning
foods in one’s diet.
Also, when trying to get rid of bad cholesterol, addition of good cholesterol can be helpful. Avocados, olives, coconut and nuts are few sources of good cholesterol.

9. Do not skip breakfast:
Many think skipping breakfast helps with quick weight loss. On the contrary, skipping breakfast is a major blunder. It increases bloating and pushes your body into
starvation mode, a key for abdominal fat gain.
Latest studies reveal having smaller and frequent meals is the key to maintain a healthy metabolism rate, which is important for weight management. So reduce the size of your meals and make up for it by snacking healthy. You could consider having dry fruits and nuts, raw veggies or fruits and steamed veggies.

10. Sleep:
Wondering why we are talking about sleeping here? Adequate sleep is very important for weight management. Everyone needs 6 – 8 hours of sleep. According to a recent
study, too much of sleep or the lack of it can lead to weight gain.

11. Gym

Try and get a personal trainer for fitness evaluation or 30-60min jogging daily with 20×5 sit ups daily.

  • Anxious or racing thoughts
  • Constant worrying
Emotional symptoms

The first step to stop stress is learning to identify it.
Here are some ways to reduce your exposure to stress and improve your stress handling abilities. Use these tips to deal with stress.

Ask yourself what you can do about the sources of your stress. Think through the pros and cons. Take action where you can.
Keep a positive, realistic attitude. Accept that although you can't control certain things, you're in charge of how you respond.
Stand up for yourself in a polite way. Share your feelings, opinions, or beliefs, instead of becoming angry, defensive, or passive.
Learn and practice relaxation techniques. Try breathing exercises, meditation, and prayer.
Exercise regularly. You'll feel better and be more prepared to handle problems.
Eat healthy. Avoid too much sugar. Focus on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein. When you're stressed, you'll probably want less-nutritious comfort foods, but if you overdo them, they'll add to your problems.
Try to manage your time wisely.
Say no, where you can, to things that would add more stress to your life.
Make time for hobbies and interests.
Get enough rest and sleep. Your body needs time to recover from stressful events.
Don't rely on alcohol, drugs, or food to help against stress. Ease up on caffeine, too.
Spend time with people you love.
Talk with a counselor or take a stress management class for more help.

VANITY OF LIFE.....

🌿One Sunday morning, a wealthy man sat in his balcony enjoying the sunshine and his coffee when a little ant caught his eye; going from one side to the other side of the balcony, carrying a big leaf several times more than its size.
🌿The man watched it for more than an hour. He saw that the ant faced many impediments during its journey, paused, took a diversion and then continued towards its destination.
🌿At one point the tiny creature came across a crack in the floor. It paused for a little while, analyzed and then laid the huge leaf over the crack, walked over the leaf, picked the leaf on the other side then continued its journey.
🌿The man was captivated by the cleverness of the ant, one of Gods tiniest creatures.
🌿The incident left the man in awe and forced him to contemplate over the miracle of Creation. It showed the greatness of the Creator.
🌿Before his very eyes was this tiny creature of God, lacking in size yet equipped with a brain to analyze, contemplate, reason, explore, discover and overcome.
🌿Along with all these capabilities, the man also noticed that this tiny creature shared some human shortcomings.
🌿The man saw about an hour later that the creature had reached its destination a tiny hole in the floor which was entrance to its underground dwelling.
🌿At this point the ants shortcoming that it shared with man was revealed.
🌿How could the ant carry the large leaf it carefully managed to its destination into the tiny hole? It simply couldnt!
🌿So the tiny creature, after all the painstaking and hard work and exercising great skills, overcoming all the difficulties along the way, just left behind the large leaf and went home empty-handed.
🌿The ant had not thought about the end before it began its challenging journey and in the end the large leaf was nothing more than a burden to it.
🌿The creature had no option, but to leave it behind, to reach its destination.
🌿The man learned a great lesson that day. Isnt that the truth about our lives?
🌿We worry about our family,
🌿We worry about our job,
🌿We worry about how to earn more money,
🌿We worry about where we should live 5 bedroom or 6 bedroom house.
🌿What kind of vehicle to buy a Mercedes or Honda or BMW or a Porsche?
🌿What kind of dress to wear?
🌿All sorts of things, only to abandon all these things when we reach the entrance to our destination {THE GRAVE} when we realize we cannot enter our destination with all these things.
🌿We dont realize in our lifes journey that these are just burdens that we are carrying with utmost care and fear of losing them, only to find that at the end, they are useless and we cant take them with us.
🌿The ONLY TREASURE that lasts FOREVER is; OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR CREATOR - GOD.
🌿So ask yourself, "AM I USING MY WHOLE LIFE TO SERVE HIM?

🌿May God guide us all and remove from our hearts the excessive love we have for this world. Amen.
